CWC spots for grabs- Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur

However Pakistan’s ODI series against Australia promises to be thrilling in and of it, there is sufficiently more up for grabs than just arrogant rights. Fans are excited to get their Cricket World Cup Tickets to see England team performance.

With the CWC 2019 only months left, and the limit for team selections even rather, Pakistan head coach is looking beyond the present competition and beyond his established players, with some places in his side’s XV still unsure.

“We designed this series for our players for the simple fact that we want to test our best bench players,” said Arthur.

“We know our main players for the CWC. After this series, we go to England and we go there with a very solid squad and the roles will be defined. We want to know where the team stands. We feel that we have done everything possible to be the best possible prepared team for the World Cup.

For us, it is not so much about Australia, this is about those places for the CWC and the chance created for a lot of players because for us, we need to find who our teammates are for every position. If we could do that out of these matches, then it would be good for us.

“It’s a new squad. This is a series of opportunities. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work-out that a few positions are available for the World Cup. There are probably four available. Inzamam-ul-Haq and I have discussed that. So, these young players need to raise their hands up and try make those places their own. It’s an exciting time going into the World Cup.”

This series also provides Pakistan a chance to break some of their key players in all formats, which are coming off a full schedule of international cricket, and will soon head into extra one.

“Sarfaraz [Ahmed] needs break, as do Babar Azam and all the guys.” Arthur said. “We have been in the hotels since 12 September. If we just keep playing our players, they are going to get hurt and exhausted.

“We have a series in England, which will give us a faultless training for us going into the CWC and we would have been trivial not to use this series as a rest going into the main challenge, the World Cup.”

Still, none of this incomes Arthur or Pakistan will be taking their present adversaries, Australia, flippantly.

“Australia is a bizarre side and they have fizzed away, they have gone through much exposed crises and they seem to be playing some very good cricket at the moment,” said Arthur.

“To win the series against India from 0-2 down was a fantastic achievement,” Arthur said. “They have got some fine players, (Usman) Khawaja is in good incision, and Pat Cummins is in good nick. They have some good new guys. I am sure they will alternate their players through the series as they also need their major players firing.”

There is strong race for the fast-bowling spots in the Aussies squad – Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, sideways with Coulter-Nile, Jhye Richardson, Pat Cummins, Kane Richardson and Jason Behrendorff are all competing for them.

Coulter-Nile, though, isn’t too worried about it.

“The World Cup is always going to be spoken about. It’s around the corner, people are vying for selection,” he said on Wednesday.

“Practically, to get selected, you have to perform. So that’s the easy method to do – go out and perform. You don’t need to worry about if you’re getting picked or not if you’re picking wickets. It’s only when you’re not taking wickets or you’re not making runs that you worry about it.”

The 31-year-old also worried that there was no competition between the fast bowlers and that the team came first.

“Everyone’s performing, that’s why we’re winning. But even when someone has a bad day, they’re really supportive of other blokes who have had a good day,” he said.

“It’s fantastic to see. I don’t think it’s an aware struggle that anyone makes. Just think its good companion’s backup each other. I don’t think anyone goes out there thinking, ‘I’m not going to worry about selection’. It’s just the way everyone is; they’re all just decent people.”

Coulter-Nile has had a strong few weeks. He’s impressed since returning to the Aussies set-up for the tour to India. Before the tour, he had voiced foiling at “mixed messages” from the choosers. He also had a rapid attack of vertigo during the BBL and needed to be hospitalized.

Coulter-Nile is still trying to find the reason for that.

“I haven’t had a chance (to do that) – I saw a vestibular physic and an ear-nose-and-throat specialist, but they didn’t really give me much,” he said.

“I’ll get through this series, go home and … I want to know the cause of why it happened. Because if I can stop it, I will, but it’s happened twice in eight years, so it’s not like it is a continuing issue for me.”

Ricky Ponting sees room for Usman Khawaja in World Cup XI

If David Warner and Steven Smith reappearing to the Australia team for the CWC, will there still be room for Khawaja in the XI? He is the star of the 3-2 ODI series win in India and Ricky Ponting positively desires that to occur, saying that Khawaja, if compulsory, could even drop down to No. 3 to put up Warner at his favored place at the top of the order. Those who don’t want to miss the entertainment have already bought their Cricket World Cup  Final Tickets.

“I think we all saw, over the past few weeks, just how skilled a player U Khawaja is and can be, and I think when you realize him play like that, it just makes you marvel why he doesn’t do it a bit more frequently. I think that’s the unsatisfactory thing as far as he is concerned,” Ponting said

“I would be astonished if Khawaja wasn’t in the squad. Warner and he can be in the same team; they might not certainly play in the same XI. Or who knows, they could, you know: Khawaja could possibly slot down at three when Warner comes in, and Steven Smith might bat at four or five or something, just to coast up those central overs.”

“I would envisage that Aaron Finch would be inclined on Steven Smith a lot for a bit of information, maybe leading into the competitions, as far as their training and everything is worried, and maybe a bit of information and knowledge as the game is being played”  Ricky Ponting

“Back down to 15, it’s a good place for the side to be in. Gratefully I’m not a selector, because that’s going to be a tough job,” he said.

Ponting said he was “pretty sure” Finch would lead Australia at the CWC, adding that he should make use of Smith’s occurrence on the field when essential.

“It’s humorous how quickly things can change. Two weeks ago, not a single person in the world would have given Australia a chance of winning the CWC. On the back of three really good wins over here, everyone’s speaking about Australia again,” Ponting said.

“What’s occurred of late, I don’t think any team will be taking Australia for settled, as they won’t take India for settled on the back of losing that series? Everyone’s building a lot about the outcome from Australia and being a bit more negative towards India. There’s no need for that at all. Whatever position they have up for grabs in their batting order the No. 4 batsman, they will fill that with a excellence player. And they will go into the CWC as one of the favorites, if not the favorite.”

Karunaratne, smashed 109 off 115 balls for Sinhalese Club in the semi-final of the Restricted Over contest. We are going to give a chance to [Lutho] Sipamla. We had seen him while playing in series against Pakistan; he looks a really good touch. So we are trying to give him a chance to prove himself and gave him some time

Gibson added, “We’ve always used the T20s as an opportunity to expose new talent, and that’s what we’re going to continue to do with Sipamla and [Sinethemba] Qeshile. Hopefully, the guys that are left here, there’s still an opportunity for them to get some form.”

Rassie van der Dussen looked comfortable in South Africa Squad middle order, where he scored up a fifty and finished off effective chases. In all, South Africa trained eight new players across the two limited-overs formats this season.

We’ve seen Rassie now for a while. We would have liked some more performances from other players. The likes of Reeza, I’m, sure would have liked to have made some more runs.

“One of the things that we’ve always looked at when we’re putting together a bowling unit is guys who can get wickets in the middle overs. Him bowling first change with his pace in those middle overs, he is surely a wicket-taker.”

The coach of South African coded that would be the mindset with which they approach Hashim Amla’s selection when he becomes available next. Hashim Amla hasn’t played international cricket in nearly a month now and has selected out of the T20Is to be with his ailing father.

“First and foremost, you want to pick on form,” Gibson said. “

The coach of South African said that if there is no good form, then looked at his reputation I guess. That’s something that we will have to look at.
