Arsenal’s hopes of being among the top four in the Premier League and qualifying for the Champions League are still in their hands despite losing ground this weekend, coach Unai Emery said on Tuesday.
Arsenal, looking to take third place this weekend, is now fifth on the table after Crystal Palace’s 3-2 victory at Emirates Stadium on Sunday. With four games to play this season, Emery’s team is one point behind Tottenham Hotspur third and Chelsea fourth, although they have played a bigger game. “At the beginning of the season, after the winter, we fought in the table. We were in a worse situation than we are now. Our way does not change. We are on our way to the end of the season with a great opportunity to take our goal. I am always proud of our season, knowing that the key moments are now. Tomorrow is a great moment, match and challenge for us. ”
Emery dismissed suggestions that the Wolves, who have nothing to play for the season, could take their foot off the pedal. The newly promoted team has an impressive record against the top six teams, with 13 points to date.
“They will do a lot of things tomorrow,” said Emery. “I quickly worked on one thing, we play against all the teams and they want to fight, fight and play with great motivation.
“One is the motivation at the table for each player and the other is the motivation against Arsenal. All teams want to beat us because they respect us and because it is important to try to win against us.”
Emery confirmed that Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) and foal Denis Suarez (groin) would not be available. “I want to keep all the information we can have for tomorrow,” he said about Xhaka’s possible return. “Sorry, it’s because I think it’s better for us.” You know that Aaron Ramsey cannot play, Denis Suarez cannot play.”
