Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has said that Pakistan have a ‘very good chance’ to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which is set to be contested in England and Wales from May 30.
Shoaib Malik trusts his team has a very good chance of winning the 2019 World Cup, which will be held in England and Wales. Although, the veteran said it will only be possible if his side accomplishes well against the rest of the world. Pakistan lifted last World Cup in the One-Day International format came in the year 1992 but Shoaib Malik feels his side has the capability to win this Cricket World Cup.
However, Malik cleared it out that this achievement will only be possible if they perform well against the rest of the world in the mega event. Malik further stated that the current Pakistan squad has all the ability to win the World Cup, but added that abilities don’t win anyone matches.
He said that the Pakistan squad have top ODI bowlers and batsmen, and he is looking forward to an unforgettable World Cup 2019. Pakistan’s last lifted the World Cup in 1992 under the direction of present Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“I feel we have a very good chance to win the tournament. But then having a ‘good chance’ doesn’t mean much. How we play each game and how we perform against the rest of the world will define how far we go. Yes, we have the ability to win the World Cup hands-down, but abilities don’t win you anything, performances do. Our capabilities include having top ODI bowlers and batsmen in our line-up and personally I’m looking forward to a memorable World Cup 2019,” Malik said.
Pakistan is set to play their first World Cup 2019 match in contradiction of West Indies on May 31 at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
