Man City have defeated Cardiff City 2-0 to reach summit of the Premier League. Sky Blues have 80 points after playing 32 matches in 2018-19 edition of the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s team lead Arsenal by one point now. Jurgen Klopp’s side have 79 points from 32 games. Tottenham Hotspur are third on the EPL standings table with tally of 64 points from 32 fixtures. Manchester City will look to carry this form into the FA Cup semi final against Brighton & Hove Albion. A win over Brighton will move Manchester City one step close to the FA Cup title. That will be their sixth silverware in The Football Association Challenge Cup.
Manchester City had rested key players in Premier League match against Cardiff, with an eye on Saturday clash of the FA Cup semi-final. Pep Guardiola made seven changes in Sky Blues side that took on Neil Warnock’s struggling team. Man City attacked the opponents right from the start. Kevin de Bruyne scored first goal of the match on 6′. Gabriel Jesus who was included in place of rested Sergio Aguero, was responsible for string of first-half misses. Leroy Sane doubled the lead with a goal on 44′. Phil Foden impressed in his debut EPL match, with a near mis-hit that bounced from the goal-post. Cardiff City had a mixed performance and were not able to score. Cardiff currently sit on 17th position and are in the relegation zone, five points behind Burnley.
Defending champions Manchester City and Arsenal both have six matches left in the 2018-19 season of the Premiership. Man City are the three time EPL title holders. Sky Blues will win fourth silverware in the Premier League, if they win all remaining games. Liverpool can reclaim top spot on the Premiership on Friday though. Manchester City head to London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for first tie of the two-legged Champions League quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur on 9th April. Second tie will see Man City host Spurs on 17th April at City of Manchester Stadium. Victory here will improve chances of Manchester City claiming the UEFA Champions League trophy in 2018-19 edition. This will be maiden European club football title for Man City, if manager Pep Guardiola is able to guide them to the victory stand.
