In spite of being terminate from the Asia Cup, Mohammad Hafeez very much remains part of Pakistan’s 2019 World Cup plans according to Inzamam-ul-Haq.
Hafeez and Imad Wasim were two players released from the beginning squad for the Asia Cup as opening batsman Shan Masood was called up for national duty. Pakistan incorporated three openers, the other two are Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq, five middle-order batsmen.
Hafeez was a part of Pakistan’s squads that won a triangular T20 International and a five-match ODI series in Zimbabwe. He, however, did not a trait in the playing XI. According to information, he was to be played in the final one-day, but the 37-year-old refused to be a part of the team line-up. Recently, he spurred a disagreement after he initially refused to sign a contract with the PCB, after being demoted to the ‘B’ category. Inzamam said, “there’s no precise reason to drop Hafeez” and the selection committee is “trying other options”.
Since Pakistan’s Champions Trophy achievement in England last summer, Hafeez has been a regular in Pakistan’s one-day squad. He played nine matches and scored 231 runs – which include two fifties against New Zealand in at an average of 28.8. Inzamam discarded the conception that the decision to drop Hafeez should be translated into his international career coming to an end.
“Hafeez is a part of the players that we are considering for the World Cup”
Pakistan begins their Asia Cup campaign on September sixteen. They play India three days later.
