Fourth country to announce the squad for 2019 Cricket World Cup turns out to be Bangladesh. Regular captain Mashrafe Mortaza will lead 15-man strong Tigers lineup. Shakib Al Hasan will be the vice skipper, while Mushfiqur Rahim will serve as wicket keeper. Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal and middle-order batter Mahmudullah complete the core group.
Soumya Sarkar and Liton Das are other openers along-with Tamim Iqbal in the Bangladeshi line-up for the Cricket World Cup 2019. All-rounders Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah will form the middle-order batting unit with Mushfiqur Rahim. Sabbir Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain also offer plenty of options for the middle order. Mosaddek will also present off-break bowling option in case of prolonged injury to Mahmudullah. Mohammad Mithun is included as backup glove-man. Decent form in recent New Zealand ODI series means that Mithun can be tried as specialist batsman.
Mustafizur Rahman will lead the Bangladeshi pace attack in the CWC 2019. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rubel Hossain are other experienced fast bowlers in the squad. Twenty five years old swing bowler Abu Jayed is surprise inclusion in the Bangla line-up. He has played five tests and three T20 internationals, but is uncapped in one day internationals. He has grabbed 12 wickets in the Bangladesh Premier League this year. So the selectors have picked him for his swing bowling and wicket taking form. Bangladesh are not main contender for ICC World Cup title, but will try to cause upsets to improve their chances. They are ranked 7th in the ICC ODI rankings, above teams like Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe. A strong performance in the CWC 2019 can improve their standing in the world cricket.
